Upcoming screening: Frankenstein
We are delighted to announce a free screening of the National Theatre’s acclaimed 2011 production of Frankenstein. This event will be held in the Library Lecture Theatre (CU359) on Thursday 23 October, from 12:00 until approximately 14:00. The production, directed by Danny Boyle, features Benedict Cumberbatch in as Frankenstein’s Creature and Jonny Lee Miller in the titular role.
About the production
Based on Mary Shelley’s classic novel first published in 1818, and adapted for the stage by Nick Dear, Frankenstein is a thrilling and disturbing gothic tale, partly set in Scotland. The stage adaptation, which premiered in February 2011 at the National Theatre’s Olivier Theatre in London, condenses the story to just under two hours and introduces several key differences from the original novel.
The production was a sell-out hit at the National Theatre in 2011, and the broadcast has since been experienced by almost half a million people in cinemas around the world.
Please note that the play contains nudity and one scene of strong sexual violence. It is recommended for audiences aged 15 years and over.
